Rochdale Round Table Donates £3,000 to Rochdale Foodbank

27th April 2021

A cheque was presented to Catherine Entwistle (Rochdale Foodbank co-ordinator) on Tuesday 13 April by Rochdale Round Table, after funds were raised at Christmas with the annual Santa sleigh rides. As the usual Christmas Can Collection could not take place due to the pandemic, monetary donations were encouraged.

Members of Rochdale Round Table have thanked the local community for their support.

Steve Field, chair of trustees at Rochdale Foodbank, said:

“We are delighted to receive the continuing support of the Round Table. Although they were prevented from carrying out their usual and extremely valuable food collection prior to Christmas, they were not to be put off by the pandemic. Their appeal for donations has allowed them to continue their generous annual support for us at the foodbank”.

“We are in the process of moving our warehouse. In addition, we are about to begin a fresh food initiative in liaison with the Fruit Factory. And as always, there are items in short supply, where we need to go out and buy in, especially from this time of year onwards”.

“This support alongside that of several others who support our mission, allows us to do all this without worrying we will run short of food”.

The Round Table movement is all about making friends, having fun, trying things you’ve not done before, and putting something back into your local community.

Membership is open to men between the ages of 18 and 45 years irrespective of their religious beliefs or political opinions, although you need to work or live in the catchment area of your Table.
