Local Girls Help Out for Duke of Edinburgh Award – Fundraising

27th September 2018

Over the school holidays Rochdale Foodbank received generous help from three local schoolgirls taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

This is the testimonial that the girls together wrote:-

This year our chosen charity is the Rochdale Foodbank.

We (Ellie, Amy and Becky) are doing our Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and for our volunteering section we are helping to raise as much money as we possibly can for a very deserving charity: Rochdale Foodbank. So far we have raised approximately £400 and have only completed two events out of six.

During the holidays we have all helped volunteer at the foodbank and now appreciate how much people rely on it and what a fantastic job the volunteers do.

Once we have completed raising money, we will go to a local supermarket and use the money we have raised to buy food for the bank, which is desperately needed.

It would be much appreciated if you could participate in the draw and help us raise as much money as possible for local people in need.

Have a lovely day, good luck and thanks.
Ellie, Amy and Becky.

Update: the girls were hoping to raise £1,000 but have so-far almost reached a staggering £2,000 !

Well done girls ! Rochdale Foodbank really enjoyed your company whilst you helped us out and wish you the best of luck in achieving your awards.

And Rochdale should be proud of the achievements that our young people are making to help our community fight hunger.

Thank you so much !
